Shipping and Logistics Manager

Location: Onsite – San Antonio, TX

Position Summary:

The Shipping and Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing all shipping, receiving, and logistics operations. This role ensures the accurate, timely, and cost-effective movement of materials while optimizing processes for a wide range of shipments, from small parts to large freight up to 5-6K lbs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Logistics Coordination: Manage all aspects of shipping and receiving, handling a diverse range of shipments from small packages (e.g., UPS, FedEx) to large freight.
• Process Optimization: Implement improvements to streamline material handling, reduce costs, and ensure on-time delivery across various business units.
• Inventory Control: Collaborate with warehousing to maintain precise inventory counts and minimize material waste through effective scrap management and FIFO (First-In-First-Out) practices.
• Vendor and Carrier Management: Work closely with 3PL providers and freight carriers, coordinating shipments and managing freight expenses, ensuring cost accuracy across internal and external transactions.
• Delivery Performance: Monitor daily shipping and delivery schedules, troubleshoot delays, and report on execution to meet delivery targets consistently.
• Safety and Compliance: Oversee safety practices for loading and unloading areas, including forklift safety and required training, and maintain compliance with company policies.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 5-10 years of experience in logistics, shipping, or related management roles.
• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems (JD Edwards E-One preferred) and experience with inventory management software.
• Skills: Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on achieving timely and cost-effective delivery outcomes.
