Assistant Project Manager

Description:

Assist in planning, coordinating, and supporting technology projects within the District. Projects may include construction/renovations, structured cabling, audio/visual systems, infrastructure upgrades, and other technology implementations. The Junior Project Manager will work under the guidance ofsenior staff to help ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Project management certification or coursework preferred.

Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications (with guidance).
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.

Experience:
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Azure DevOps, or similar).
  • 1-2 years of project coordination or related experience preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Support project planning activities and track progress against timelines.
  • Assist in documenting project deliverables, milestones, and tasks.
  • Participate in project meetings (pre-design, pre-bid, construction reviews) and take notes.
  • Maintain project documentation, reports, and updates.
  • Support communication between IT staff, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Help monitor project compliance with drawings, specifications, and standards.
  • Assist with vendor coordination and warranty follow-ups.
  • Provide general administrative and technical support to senior project managers.
  • Travel to district sites as needed for walk-throughs and project assistance.
  • Maintain a professional, customer service-oriented approach in all interactions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

  • Provide professional communication with students, parents, community members, staff and other professionals at all times.
  • Use proper phone etiquette at all times, speaking slowly and clearly. Take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
  • Ensure superior customer care skills are used via eye contact, facial expressions, voice inflections, body language, and an attitude of "going the extra mile" for others.
  • Ensure all requests for information are dealt with in an appropriate timeframe.
  • Create and maintain a welcoming, service-oriented environment toward all internal and external customers.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching

Lifting: Occasional lifting and carrying (more than 15 pounds)

Salary:
Pay Grade TG04, $276.04-$333.57 daily rate, commensurate with experience according to District salary schedule.
